Job Summary
The Nursing Home Beautician provides professional hair and grooming services to residents in a caring, respectful, and safe manner. This role helps residents maintain dignity, confidence, and well-being by ensuring their personal appearance needs are met according to their preferences and facility policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide hair care services including shampooing, cutting, trimming, styling, coloring, and perming for residents.
• Offer additional grooming services such as beard trimming, scalp treatments, and simple manicures when requested.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary beauty shop environment in compliance with infection control and state regulations.
• Schedule appointments and manage resident service records and payments (if applicable).
• Communicate with nursing and activities staff to coordinate resident care and appointment times.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are properly cleaned and disinfected after each use.
• Demonstrate patience, empathy, and professionalism when working with elderly residents, including those with cognitive or physical limitations.
• Comply with all facility policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Monitor residents for any scalp or skin conditions and report concerns to nursing staff.

Requirements

• Licensure: Current and valid State Cosmetology License.
• Experience: Prior experience working with elderly clients preferred (nursing home, assisted living, or similar setting).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to provide compassionate, resident-centered care.
• Knowledge of sanitation and infection control standards.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Work Environment:

• Beauty salon located within the nursing facility.
• Frequent interaction with residents, staff, and family members.
• May require standing for long periods and assisting residents with mobility limitations.
